Don't count years...Count experiences

If a drop of water falls on lake, it loses its identity.

If it falls on a Rose, it shines.

If it falls on a Shell, it becomes a pearl.

Drop is same but the company matters…

God chooses our relatives... but we choose our friends...

Happy New Year :-)

PS - By saying 'company' i don't mean a business entity... but companion.

It's amazing how the simple is not so simple and the obvious is not so obvious.

Also, when we've been wrong nine times, we don't trust ourselves anymore and even when truth is presented to us, because of past failures, we doubt the obvious

...we doubt us.

Don't let past failures convince you that you can't be right, that you can't do it, that success isn't destined for you.

We don't fail because we don't succeed,
we fail because we quit,
believing that we can't win.

Four Questions

There are only four questions of value in life.
What is sacred?
Of what is the spirit made?
What is worth living for?
What is worth dying for?
The answer to each is the same.

Only love.

~From the movie, "Don Juan DeMarco"

Love ... need not be the love that many of us come across in teanage! It can be any. Like our love for God, our love for our parents, our love for our friends or our love for ourselves!
It's just a pure feeling that we have for somebody!

The ability to see beauty in all is a trait that we all need, we just need our motives pure.

Hold your toungue!!

I got this phrase of Bible from one of my teammates, who used to tease someone or the other always and later regret for doing so...

"When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by
a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by human beings, but no one can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither
can a salt spring produce fresh water."

I miss you

Stars are not as bright as earlier...
Sky is not as pleasant...
Birds are not as cute...

Fourth Window

One of my close friends used to say that my fourth window seems to be big. But i feel the same for the second window.
For those who couldn't understand what am talking about, here is the explanation. This is not something defined and stated somewhere but it is something which we both(me and my friend) used to discuss about, most of the times. This is about a person's personality.

Every person has four windows to his/her personality.
First window tells what you know about yourself and what others also know about yourself. Second window tells what you know about yourself and what others doesn't know.
Third window tells what others know about yourself but you doesn't know.
Finally, the fourth window tells what you don't know about yourself neither do others.

To me, second window is very much interesting and i like to keep it big. That doesn't mean that am an introvert. At the same time am not an extrovert too!!
What i know about myself and others dosen't know is lot more compared to what others know about me. Thats what i feel atleast. And i wish to be like that. There are hell lot of things in my life which i never shared with anyone. I have very less number of friends whom with i share most of the things, if not everything. But none of them know me enough, neither do i except them to.
What others know about myself and i doesn't konw... only others can tell about this. Most of the things that i hear from others about me... i already know. So that doesn't come here. Till now noone said anything about me that i doesn't know. Am still waiting to know about my third window... so that i know myself better!
What i know about myself and what others also know... nothing much to say about this as everyone knows ;).
What i don't know about myself neither do others... can't say anything about this as this is about what i don't know about myself :).

The Assumption

A man, exiting a grocery store, was very surprised when a rather good-looking and perky young lady greeted him cheerfully by saying "Good Evening."

Her face was beaming. At least she was smiling until he gave her that "Who are you?" look. He couldn't remember having ever seen her before.

Then, she obviously realized that a mistake had been made and apologized.

She explained, "Oh, I'm so sorry. When I first saw you I thought you were the father of one of my children."
She walked on her way into the store.

The man was left staring dumbfounded after her.
More than a bit puzzled, he thought to himself, "What is the world coming to, an attractive woman who doesn't even keep track of what the father of her children look like."

However, he was also a bit flattered that he might resemble one of her former suitors. But, also hoped that nobody overheard her saying that she mistook him for being the father of one of her children.

A bit panicked, he then thought, "Could I possibly have forgotten a relationship? Could it be that I really fathered a child?"

Still stunned, he walked to his car.

He still did not realize, of course,

that she was a fifth-grade teacher at a local elementary school.

The Dog and The Leopard

A wealthy man decided to go on a safari in Africa. He took his faithful pet dog along for company. One day the dog starts chasing butterflies and before long he discovers that he is lost. So, wandering about he notices a leopard heading rapidly in his direction with the obvious intention of having lunch.
The dog thinks, "Boy, I'm in deep doo doo now."
Then he noticed some bones on the ground close by, and immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat.
Just as the leopard is about to leap, the dog exclaims loudly, "Man, that was one delicious leopard. I wonder if there are any more around here?" Hearing this the leopard halts his attack in mid stride, as a look of terror comes over him, and slinks away into the trees.
"Whew," says the leopard, "That was close. That dog nearly had me."
Meanwhile, a monkey who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the leopard.
So, off he goes. But the dog saw him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figured that something must be up. The monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the leopard.
The leopard is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here monkey, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine."
Now the dog sees the leopard coming with the monkey on his back, and thinks, "What am I going to do now?"
But instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers pretending he hasn't seen them yet.
Just when they get close enough to hear, the dog says,
"Where's that monkey. I just can never trust him.
I sent him off half an hour ago to bring me another leopard, and he's still not back!!"

When The Truth Hurts

One day while a family sat in the den, the youngest son who had just turned two, took a plastic child's bowling pin, turned it upside down and hit his two older brothers in the head with it.

Both his mother and father were in the room at the time, mother chose to handle this one and father chose to let her.

She took little son and had a talk with him.
Father listened in, intrigued at how this was going to go.

His mother asked him, "What were you thinking hitting your brothers in the head with that pin?"

"Were you trying to get in trouble?"
He answered "No."

"Did they do something to you that you were trying to get back at them for?"
He answered, "No."

"Are you playing some kind of game that requires you to hit them in the head?"
He answered, "No."

"Do you just need some attention?"
He answered, "No."

Frustrated and tired mother had given up on her questions and the father's curiosity was just about to explode.

She figured she had better let him say why so she asked him, "Well why did you hit your brothers in the head with a bowling pin?"

Father had already made up in his mind, honey this is a waste of time, maybe daddy should have handled this one. A child barely two doesn't understand all of these questions and can't give you an intelligent answer.
Just then the little son looked at his mother with the astuteness of a Ph.D. and answered the question as honestly as anyone have ever heard a two-year-old answer.

"Because I like it."

PS : We as adults many times make all kinds of excuses of why we behave the way we do. Sometimes we just need to be honest with ourselves and admit that we do some things in life simply because we like it.

Can you do all these !!?

If you can start the day without caffeine or pep pills,
If you can be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same food everyday and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when loved ones are too busy to give you time,
If you can overlook when people take things out on you when, through no fault of yours, something goes wrong,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,
If you can face the world without lies and deceit,
If you can conquer tension without medical help,
If you can relax without liquor,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs

If you can do all these things,

THEN YOU ARE PROBABLY THE FAMILY DOG :p

Then he saw another bigger one... but may be there is an even bigger one waiting for him.Later, when he finished more than half of the paddy field, he start to realize that the paddy is not as big as the previous one he saw, he know he has missed the biggest one, and he regretted. The teacher said: In order to answer your question, go to the corn field and choose the biggest corn and come back.
But the rule is: you can go through them only once and cannot turn back to pick.

Objectives and Actions !!

During a visit to the mental asylum, a visitor asked the Director what is the criteria that defines a patient to be institutionalised.

"Well," said the Director, "we fill up a bathtub, we offer a teaspoon, aTeacup, and a bucket to the patient and ask the patient to empty theBath tub."
1. Would you use the spoon?
2. Would you use the teacup?
3. Would you use the bucket?

"Oh, I understand," said the visitor.
"A normal person would choose theBucket as it is larger than the spoon. "

"No," answered the Director.
"A normal person would pull the plug."

He flunked..........There is a difference between an objective and actions! Unless you understand your objective; you will be wasting your time in your actions.
Know your objective first and follow it with relevant actions

***

We are like this visitor who answers wrongly to the question. Should always think about this message whenever we are away from our goals in life.

Very true if we could relate to our present day worries and miseries..........

The Waves

One moment you have shortage. . .
The next you have excess. . .

One day you have nothing to do. . .
The next you don't have time to get it all done. . .

One day the refrigerator is empty and you are hungry. . .
The next you have a half eaten meal in front of you and you are stuffed. . .

One month you've got money to spare and you wonder what to buy
The next you've got a bounced check. . .

One moment you are full of energy and can't go to sleep. . .
The next you are drained and can't get up. . .

One day you are the center of attention. . .
The next you wonder if anyone knows you are alive. . .

It's the waves of life.
They carry us up and down and all around.
Money, friends, your relationships, your job and the rest of the list, they all vary. They all go in waves.
Life is full of stuff. I wouldn't trade my life with anyone, it's one of the most blessed that I know, but it's still full of stuff. One thing after another, one challenge after another, one situation after another, day by day, never-ending . . .
It's the waves and there is no stopping them from the outside.
You can only calm the inside, so that like a submarine, you ride deep beneath the waves.
Though a storm is raging, you are at peace.
Most are tossed and turned by waves.
Some like the sub, ride deep beneath the daily storms in peace.
Some simply surf the waves and have a lot of fun.
Some drown.
You can't stop the waves; it's the nature of the ocean of life.
You can only choose which method you will use to handle them.
You can be tossed like most.
You can drown like many.
You can surf and have fun while you can, but even a surfer gets tired and there's nowhere to sleep on a surfboard.
To ride comfortably beneath the waves requires a ship containing breath that is not our own.

That ship. . .
. . . is not crowded.

Right and Wrong

A Sunday school teacher was teaching her class about the difference between right and wrong.
"All right children, let's take another example," she said.
"If I were to get into a man's pocket and take his billfold with all his money, what would I be?"

Little Johnny raises his hand, and with a confident smile he blurts out,
"You'd be his wife!"

The Missing...

A grandmother was walking along on the beach with her young grandson when a giant wave washed over the beach. She looked and her grandson was gone, carried away by the wave.

She fell down on her knees and began praying vigorously.

"Lord PLEASE send my grandson back! PLEASE!!!"

In the next few seconds another giant wave washed over the beach and there lie her grandson, stunned but otherwise fine.

The grandmother looked at him then looked up to heaven and said,

"He was wearing a hat!"

Funnies

I always wanted to have someone to hold, someone to love. And now that you've come into my life...
I've changed my mind.

I must admit, you brought religion into my life...
I never believed in Hell until I met you.

As the days go by, I think how lucky I am....
That you're not here to ruin it for me .

Happy Birthday! You look great for your age....
Almost lifelike!

When we were together, you said you'd die for me...
Now we've broken up, I think it's time to keep your promise.

You are such a good friend. If we were on a sinking ship and there was only one life jacket...
I'd miss you terribly and think of you often .

Looking back over the years that we have been together, I can't help but wonder.....
What the hell was I thinking

I'm so miserable without you...
It's almost like you're still here.

Thank you for being part of my life.....
I never knew what evil was until I met you!

How can I say this....
Your cooking kills me

I just want you to know that I'm sorry for what happened...
Especially since you survived.

Congrats on getting married...
It's not everyday you decide to ruin your life.

Someday I hope to marry...
Someone other than you.

We have been friends for a very long time...
What do you say we stop?

RSL

Are you a Reason, a Season, or a Lifetime?

People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. When we figure out which one it is, we will know what to do for each person.

REASON:

When someone is in our life for a REASON. . .
It is usually to meet a need we have expressed. They have come to assist us through a difficulty, to provide us with guidance and support, to aid us physically, emotionally, or spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend, and they are! They are there for the reason we need them to be.

Then, without any wrong doing on our part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.

Sometimes they die.
Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force us to take a stand.

What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. And now it is time to move on.

SEASON:

When people come into our life for a SEASON it is because our turn has come to share, grow, or learn. They bring us an experience of peace or make us laugh. They may teach us something we have never done. They usually give us an unbelievable amount of joy.
But, only for a season.

LIFETIME:

LIFETIME relationships teach us lifetime lessons; things we must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.

Our job is to accept the lesson, love the person, and put what we have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of our life.

It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

As someone said...
Work like you don't need the money.
Dance like no one is watching.
And love like you've never been hurt.

Grand Date :-)

Grandpa and Grandma always got very excited when they recalled the old days they were together.
They made a decision, one day to make it "yesterday once more". They made a date on the river bank they used to go when they were young.
The next day, Grandpa got up at 6 a.m. in the morning, dashed to thebank, picked up a big bunch of wild flowers before sunrise, waited there for his sweetheart to come. But Grandpa ended up being disappointed as Grandma never showed up even after sunset.
Grandpa went home in such an anger. He opened the door and saw Grandma lying on the sofa with her pillow. He threw the flowers on the floor and questioned: "Why didn't you come to our date?!!"
Grandma hid her head in the pillow and replied shyly: "Mom didn't allow me to go..."

Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....

"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.'

And now I tell my children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the
children in India who would make you starve, if you don't.'

At the Darkest Moment

One thing that comes out in myths is that at the bottom of the abyss comes the voice of salvation.

The darkest moment is the moment when the real message of transformation is going to come.

At the darkest moment comes the light.

A Glimpse Into the Future

"Invasion"

This novel offers a look into the unthinkable future ,sure,a bit far-fetched but nevertheless a pretty good read.As the title puts it ’a deadly threat to life on earth from the icy vastness of outer space’.
Mysteriously, one night, electronic equipment of all kinds begin to spark and explode throughout the city. The next morning the city is covered with countless strange black discs scattered everywhere.A college student,Beau Stark is among the first to pick up one of the discs. He encounters a sharp pain, like a bee-sting and gradually becomes infected. His flu-like symptoms signify the revival of an ancient alien virus implanted millions of years ago in mankind’s genetic code-and since then lying dormant until the hosts are sufficiently developed, that is,until now.Meanwhile, all over the nation, people and other creatures succumb to the same virus and start to behave in a bizarre fashion,as if controlled by an alien intelligence.
Beau Stark gradually assumes leadership of these infected people, his college friends realise that something truly horrifying is happening around them.As they struggle to piece together the puzzle, they soon become the prey to these group of predators.Meanwhile,on their shoulders lies the burden of saving all humanity and time is running out,fast...
Robin Cook has a strange knack of keeping you engrossed in the book. Its no less in this particular novel. One of those books which you just cant stop reading until you finish.A really good read.

a musing !!!

I have never met a person whose greatest need was
anything other than real, unconditional love. You can
find it in a simple act of kindness toward somone who
needs help. There is no mistaking love. You feel it in
your heart. It is the common fiber of life, the flame
that heals our soul, energizes our spirit and supplies
passion to our lives. It is our connection to God and
to each other.
